Month: April 2015

There’s no one way.

In the past few weeks I’ve worked with those that believed there was one way to meditate, one way to date, one way to do business, one way to *LIVE*.

Nope. Not even close. How could there be only one option when we are so intricately different? We all have different messages and modalities that resonate. Some may read my messages and have an “ah ha!” moment, while others may be unmoved. It’s cool, it’s all part of the reason why humanity is so magical.

I have many flaws, but the one attribute I have that I am extremely proud of is that I follow the path that I pave.

I work in a way that feels good to me. I meditate and workout the way that resonates (which means often skipping the workout – shhhh, our little secret…). I love the way I want to love.

Are they perfect methods? Definitely not for the entirety of the population, but they are perfect for me.

The next time you think “I must be doing this wrong”, pause and ask yourself “Am I doing this the way I think I am supposed to, or the way that feels good to me?” Only you can determine what works, and trust me, you’ll know it when you find it because it will be easy,

Sending you love and light.

Ever feel like you’ve been run over by a truck?

I’m SO happy that it is Sunday! I’m even happier that I’ve been working all afternoon. Weird, huh? See, all week I was in a head cold induced coma. Like the flu without the fever – it was awful. I love to sleep, but the amount of time I was spending snoozing was driving me insane.

But I NEEDED it. I listened to the pleas (screams, really) of my body and stopped. I rescheduled clients and meetings. I took the help from my mom with picking up the kids from their respective schools. I ordered takeout for dinner. All week. I cancelled plans to go to a rollerskating 40th birthday party I was so looking forward to.

I did everything in my power to take care of myself.

You know what? It works! I feel SO good today. I feel like I could take on the world. Or at least stay up for more than 4 hours at a time.

It made me think of how often we just “muscle through”. How when we are hurting, emotionally or physically, we just ignore it. Thinking “it will go away”…..or “I don’t have time to stop”. Well it doesn’t and you do. Just like an illness, if you aren’t taking the time to heal your body or your heart, it doesn’t just go away. It may grow, it may sustain, but it doesn’t just leave without self-care.

Nothing is more important than taking care of yourself. How can you prioritize YOU this week? What little things (or big things!) can you do to make sure that your wounds are being addressed?

My suggestion? The three P’s:

Prioritize – Don’t think you have enough time for self care? How much time are you really spending on things you don’t need? Social media? TV? Pay attention to what takes up your hours and eliminate the activities that are not serving you.

Pamper – It doesn’t take a week in Mexico to pamper yourself. It could be as simple as an extra long shower or a bath. Take time to make your body feel like you aren’t just using it to get from place to place.

Pray – I’m not religious per se, but I am spiritual. I believe that there is a higher power around us that is there to help, especially in situations where we feel fragile. Pray and ask for the help you need. Ask for guidance. And don’t be afraid to listen for an answer…

Sending you so much healthy love!
